I recently purchased this 16GA Type 4 A5. Complete with the all important Felix Funken signature.

Serial number 50355 places this gun in mid - late 1926.

Ths gun is in the UK so has been restricted to being a 3 shot (2 + 1)
The condition isn't perfect and I intend to sort out the oil stained woodwork in the future. There's some dents on the left side of the receiver that I need to just live with.

The barrel is somewhat short at 25". It was sold to me as being chambered in 65mm (2.1/2") , however most 67mm ammunition in the UK is sold as safe for use in 65mm guns. I have had it successfully cycling 67mm cases.

I am missing the bevelled ring and unfortunately 16GA A5 parts are extremely rare in the UK. I'm having significant issues sourcing parts here in the UK.

I paid £995 for the gun a couple of months ago and have no historical records of the gun.

Speaking of that screwdriver, do you have a brownells in the UK? Or will they ship to the UK?

Nice looking gun . Would have been nice to know the history behind it. Bet that one has a story or two to tell.

You will be able to get somebody to machine up a tapered ring no problem. One of the 16g wizards on here ( and there is a few of them) should be able to give you some dimensions and information.

I’d be willing to send one too if it’s not illegal

We do have Brownells but they have a restricted stock and appear to be selling off most their stock since they pulled out of the European markets. The items they do have in stock are largely accessories and they often come at significant mark up as well.

Most parts companies in America refuse to ship to the UK due to confusion regarding ITAR, or just a lack of understanding of how parts fall into british law. Only pressure bearing parts are restricted in the UK.
Importing non-restricted parts is legal and I'd only need to pay duty fees if importing non-restricted components.

Registered firearms dealers in the UK can import restricted and non-restircted parts, as they can complete import paperwork. However when attempting to import small parts or individual parts only this isn't often worth their time and you end up paying the cost of the parts multiple times over.

Lucky I have managed to get hold of a set of Grace Browning A5 screwdrivers via sellers in the States using the Ebay Global Shipping Program. It costs ~$20 for an import from an ebay seller, however most ebay sellers listing gun parts are not part of this program.

Interesting, I just sent some stuff to my mate,(auzzie) member here, to land down under as he has some pretty crazy rules and prices. I understand people being confused. I think most of our confusion came from the post office people not knowing the rules themselves. Anyway, he got the stuff and that all that matters. If we can help out in anyway, just ask here, one of the members will help out.

When you say beveled ring are you talking the bronze friction ring or the steel ring?

Anybody inspecting the mail would have a hard time proving either of those are gun parts

As the self appointed subject matter specialist on BS rules and regulations regarding crazy place laws I reckon as Win 7/says you be right sending a steel or bronze ring. It’s essentially a metal spacer washer and fit anything or a bushing.
Other stuff might be a different story.

What I can add for general interest is Uncle Sam has his very own array of crazy BS hoops and paperwork with various departments and fees you have to jump through to take firearms out of the USA . Given how free things are inside USA try take something out.
You swear your the cartel exporting A FA18 superhornet. His interpretations and views on things certainly don’t align with the outside worlds descriptions which makes things very hard.
I am sure Biz would agree with his experiences too.

Oh yeah we have a Brownells here too but bloody useless and have a super restrictive catalogue range available. You be lucky to have access to 10% of US offerings. What also stinks is you can’t buy or process anything in US using a foreign credit card.
    Many thanks Ranger 6!
