An A5 with the serial number 33378 would be 1909,yes?
And with a price of c. US$350 (described as average cond with small crack in forearm and light rust on metalwork), is this a good buy?
May be about to get a new project.
    Cheers B.

1909 is correct year. Seems like a good deal for 350.

A 12 gauge with that serial number and no letter prefixes would be from 1909. A 16 gauge with the same number, 1924.

Didn't know about the possibility of duplicate numbers re gauges.
Clearly one of the advantages of pursuing this forum.
(You learn something new and from people so well versed in the details).
It is a 12 ga, modified choke and straight stock.
And the new project looks inviting. Thanks.

If you do a little looking on here, you will find a serial number guide in the auto 5 section. There is one for 12 and one for 16.

Sounds like a bargain. 1909 seems to be when the design was “sealed”.

May need to take a trip north and have a look.
    Many thanks for the input.

Wish I could figure out how to link the advert here.
May make all things a little easier.

Cut and paste works for me.

Always lots of unique Browning stuff hiding in NZ.

Not much success with the cut and paste yet.
    Will look at things tomorrow.

It appears beyond my pay grade.
Can't make a link or cut and paste.
    It resists my charms.
If any one wants to here's the manual version.
Search "Trade me" then "Market place" then "Sports" then "Browning".
    Best of luck.

Thank you for the link, Rudolph.
As to the gun, if it is still there on Saturday I have a convenient excuse to be in the region.
So maybe a new project to be getting on with. Here's hoping.

Things always get seem to get complicated.
Trip up to see the A5 was cancelled as someone got ill.
    And then this pops up.

Not a Browning but there is sort of a connection, FN and all that.
So some thinking to be done.
I have a weakness when it comes to 410's it seems.

    Are you sure it’s FN?

Fabrique d’Armes isn’t the same as Fabrique Nationale d’Armes de Guerre.

I would be apprehensive and checking into that aspect too.

    Ahhh...the joy of the interweb.
All knowledge is there and some of it could be true.
Many thanks to this website for reliable data.
Either gun will have to wait for toy savings to come back to usual levels anyway.
    All good and thank you.
