I just bought a new (1963) 16 and I already note that left rear of forearm is starting to wear away in a half moon pattern. I have ordered a forearm on line but it needs finishing. I will put the original up for show and tell. What I need to know is the name of the pin at the front of the forearm that contacts the magazine cap. I also would like to know if the part / assembly is available for purchase anywhere? I don't want to remove from original forearm.
You are referring to the magazine cap detent lock pin. As far as I know, these was part of the forearm. Newer A5's came with forends without these in them. You could drill a hole in your new forend and utilize the detent pin from the old forend and install it yourself.
