Hi. I'm looking for some information on this rifle. It was my fathers. It has been covered in Hoppes grease since the early 80s. I took it out of the safe this weekend and found some corrosion forming around the rear sling lug. I took the rifle apart and cleaned all of the grease off of the metal. There were 2 small spots of rust/pitting on the receiver near the ejection port. And, aside from the sling lug, the rest of the metal appears perfect. I pulled the sling lug out, cleaned, lubed, and reinstalled it. I can't seem to find anything on this serial number...
Anyone have any info? Thanks in advance!!

I just called Browning customer service. They said it's a 1970 Medallion Safari Grade 3 or 4. There is a chance of it having saltwood. So, I'll be picking up some silver nitrate to test the stock later today. I'm praying the corrosion in the small spots was from carelessness and not saltwood. This stock is beautiful and I'd hate to have to replace it. Wish me luck!!

I have a salt wood T-Bolt. I firmly believe if your rifle had salt wood you would see the metal rusting where it meets the wood. It has been so long now that the damage would be done long ago
