I have had the 499 survival knife for several years. It's a good knife but I had to soak the leather handle strap in water and stretch it to make the snap actually connect. I really liked the balance, the leather handle and the sturdy pommel. The blade was sharp enough out of the box but after just a few times putting it into the sheath the black blade was getting well scratched. It didn't matter to me but might to someone else. It's a good value knife to have for hunting, hiking and camping etc. I keep it in my truck tool box so it's handy if needed. Nice to have some knife company's still made in the good ole USA!
