I have a 1960's light weight auto 5 that a piece of the butt stock broke off and was lost. It broke off the top of the stock right behind the receiver. The missing piece is about the half the size of one side of a clothes pin. What is the best way to repair?

hey Bob, sorry to hear about the break. Do you have any experience of repairing a stock? the most common way i have seen DIY repair is the following:
    Material used: another guns forend/stock,

    Steps:
-prep the stock by cleaning it with wood stripper to remove any gunk/grime
-shaving off the size needed for repair from the extra forend/stock
-super glueing the piece onto the stock
-Once dried using a combination of a modeling knife and sandpaper, you smooth out the newly added piece to the stock.
-once smooth, re-stain the stock so everything matches.

another route would be to pick up another stock, either used or new. I know Boyds gun stocks sells replacements for A-5. Hope that helps.
