Hi... I'm looking online at a 12 ga 3" BPS with the 24" smoothbore Slug bbl with sights.. Like to know approx what the constriction would be in it? I don't believe they are a true Cyl bore , I've read it would be similar to an Imp Cyl choking , that sound correct? I plan to shoot the Lyman 525 gr Sabot slug in a wad throught the gun. Bob, I can’t answer your question, but I can tell you that shooting a sabot through a smooth bore barrel won’t work very well. The whole idea is to get the bullet spinning. Foster slugs are stabilized by their forward center of gravity and will work much better.
Thankyou Rudolph , good reminder - I had simply forgotten that aspect after I saw the pic of the BPS ..It would be more like shooting a Black Powder smoothbore Musket , and we know what kind of accuracy you get there! I appreciate the reply...But I would still like to know what amount of choke Browning put in their Slug Bbl's.
i don't know either but can tell you that when I finally got a rifled slug barrel I had the smoothbore slug barrel threaded for a turkey tube. So there was enough meat for that.
