Putting on the 12th (or so) coat of tung oil on a J.C. Higgins Model 101.7. It's essentially a Stevens 530 with a 5100 action sold by Sears Roebuck and Co. Nice little 20-gauge SXS restoration project. It's amazing how much tung oil continues to soak into the endgrain of the forearm, pistol grip and comb.

Ack! I exist on *Diet Pepsi*, but both the Coke Zero and Pepsi Zero Sugar have ZERO place in my selections. Diet Coke is close to battery acid but is preferrable to Coke Zero. Gotta fight ya on this one.

Ranger, is that archery backstop homemade? If so, how is it constructed? I'm thinking about throwing one in the basement..

so the front one is two bully dog targets. They are pretty thick and have no issues with arrow going all the way through unless you just keep shooting the same spot. They have lifetime warranty and have been excellent targets. I just built the enclosure to keep the weather off them and to make them easy to move around the yard.
The second one is some high-density foam that I had special ordered with the center cut out, so I could put a broadhead cube in the center, then I could shoot broadheads and not ruin my other target. When the cube wears out, I just flip it to a new side. Then when it's all worn out, I pull it out, buy another cube for 60 bucks at academy and continue on shooting. The foam is like 6" think so I put a horse mat behind it (50 bucks at tractor supply). I just let it hang lose in there and it stops any arrows that don't hit the cube. I haven't had an issue not hitting the cube because it's like 12X12.

In your basement you could always get a horse mat and hang it up, then go to harbor freight and buy packs of workout mats, cut them and stack them up on top each other. Use rachet straps to pull them tight. You could build something to house them in and even put rollers on it if necessary. Or buy some bully dog targets, but they are expensive. Also have a look at 365 targets. That's my next one.
I can get around 55-60 yards in my front yard, gets a little boring shooting just a Vegas target, so that's where the ballons come in. I can't see the "X" in the center anyway from 40 yards, but I can see apple sized ballon. I figure if I can hit apple sized target @50 yards then any shot I'm going to take on an animal should be easy money.

good eye but nah just a casting mark. It sure looks like it in the picture. I had to go check. It's a wonder this thing even ran cause the pickup screen was clogged with plastic timing chain guide material.

I did timing belt on a 1996 Ford Contour 2.0L 4cyl once, by myself in the driveway. Not exactly a bad job but when I turned the key and it fired right up I was dancing in the driveway screaming (in mock Russian) "I am inveencible!" like the James Bond movie.

I understand. This timing job is several days of work, so if all is well at the end I will be doing a little happy dance. When these first came out all the timing components were put together, sprocket on chain and pulleys all the right way. This kit had them in disarray. Think parts guy got a little carried away. Sure hope I was paying attention in class a very long time ago.

May have to phone the "down under" and get some Auzzie power to coble it all together to make it work.

Ha! When I bought the above said Contour for my daughter the whole top-end came in a box of parts. Someone told them they blew the engine and that it was an interference engine topside. Neither turned out to be true. I learned a LOT on that task.

Reviewing the wife's aurora pics from last nights HUGE solar storm. Aurora waved and flickered most of the night, visible directly overhead.
