Home-made? Probably my death-row final meal if it ever comes to that!

Never knew those places made B&G. Best place I ever had it was on a North Slope oilfield man-camp. Made you never want to venture out into the fields.

Yes they do. Do you know of whataburger? I never heard of it until I came to Texas. They also make some other breakfast items that are good.

Just got home from x wife's house. We did Christmas together for the kiddo. Atleast she is X wife this year. Wow happy that's over. Guess I must be getting too old to care anymore. Maybe it's the 80 degrees and no snow.

I wasn't quick enough on the trigger to get an over the counter firearm licence for deer in central Illinois. However I did get a last minute opportunity for archery. Sadly my 30-year old Martin Warthog compound (wood limbs and riser) needs a new cable. I also have a Browning Cobra II recurve but I'm cautious about stringing that one up due again to the amount of time since I've last used it. I busted a long bow when I was a teen and still kinda gun shy about cracking a limb.

Anyway my buddy says that I can use his Ravin crossbow. I was aiming at a target at 20 yards just to get a feel, and this thing shot EXACTLY where I was aiming and the bolt shot thru the target. Impressed the hell out of me.

So talk around the table one evening was about having a separate archery season for crossbows as they are too deadly. If that's the case I mentioned, why not just have an archery season for recurve and long bows etc as compounds/crossbows have both come along way since the Bear Whitetail Hunter was designed. Between the scopes and sights, stabilizers, silencers etc. the nuance of primitive achery has been lost to the masses. Apparently that didn't sit too well with the compound guys.

Sure would like to see some pictures of that Warthog. I bet it would be just fine. I just got a 19" Hoyt Satori riser in the mail today, so I will be going down that rabbit hole next. I do also have a Ravin too. Shots just like a rifle. The arrows move little slow @ 400 fps. I bought it for my daughter, but she wanted a compound. Now she shoots a Mathews. I am a Hoyt guy. It's going to be fun to see if I can hit anything with this recurve.

Searching for some limbs for this recurve. Think I have settled on medium limbs@45 lbs, so with my riser should be about 42 lbs.

Musky67, where in central Illinois? That's my old stompin" ground!

    Hi Bill
My hunting buddy ownes a little over 1000 acres on various farms which he leases out to farmers.

The plots are primarly in Marion County east of Salem. Lots of deer hunting pressure seems to have whittled down the number of huge bucks from years past.

He also owns some farmland in Douglas and Coles counties which hold decent pheasant populations, but again nothing like the old days.

Just finished fletching some arrows for the kiddo and fixed a couple of mine. Headed outside to put to good use.

    Nice.

Are those carbon fiber? I still have a dozen aluminum, times are a changing.

I remember shooting a straight bow with wooden arrows, feather fletching and no arrow rest when I was a kid. I cant tell you how many times the fletching would comes off and sink in about a good half inch into my left hand. Figured out wearing a glove was a prudent move..

yes they are carbon and very light. Total arrow weight about 380 gr. That is with 100 grain field point. Those are practice ones. I keep replacing the fletching as long as arrows are good. These have lasted long time. I will be using feathers with the recurve off the shelf very soon.

I was thinking this bow and arrow hobby would be cheaper than skeet field and all, but I think I have been mistaken. The rabbit holes seem to find me. Maybe old trucks next? Win7stw has one I sure like but not sure if he has checked out this thread yet.

Heard of the chain but its not in Alaska that I know of, certainly not in the SE. Very few chain fast foods outside of Anchorage and Fairbanks.
