My wife said to go pick out any gun (within reason - my words) to say thanks for the support while she was in nursing school. She passed the NCLEX and is an RN and starts a new job next week. I'd like to pick up a target .22 and since I am a Browning guy, I am looking at the T-Bolt. I see the T-bolt has three barrels options; the Sporter, Target/Varmint, and Target SR. I have always liked to the look of a maple stock (gray laminate is an option, too) and there are several on GB for sale. Reason for the choice is I'd like a nice accurate .22 to test my skills from the bench. I will need good glass, too. Likely 50 yards but may shoot out to 100 depending on the optics and 53 year old eyes with glasses. I'm leaning towards the Target/Varmint with the medium barrel. The heavy should help in accuracy but I'm having trouble getting past the look.
My opinion only and not meant to ruin anything for you but save the wife’s go get what you want for something else. If you want a 22 then go Ruger 10/22 with bull barrel. Shot one for target shooting out to 100 yards. That thing would put 5 rounds inside of nickel sized circle over and over. There are lots of parts to customize them. They are cheaper and tons of fun. Now for the browning 22. The SA22 is one fine 22, but not for target shooting.
I've got three T-Bolts, including a Target Varmint model (2010) it is very accurate with a 3x9x40 Bushnell rim fire scope on it 50 yard groups are consistently with in 5/8 of an inch using SK Standard Plus (1073 FPS).
