Brass is difficult to come by lately. I prefer the 200 grain round nose bullets best. There really is no sense in trying to hot rod it, as it is very good as is for a short to medium range woods cartridge.
I agree The 35 Rem is a venerable 'brush buster' Brass is basically unavailable I've relied more on my Whelen of late when a big bullet is needed There never seems to be a shortage of '06 brass and I haven't figured a way to convert anything to 35 Rem easily.
Really dig my 358 Alpo, tho Quite the Fireplug for a rifle smaller than a Red Ryder uses shortened 35 Whelen Improved dies
Absolutely LOVE the 35 Remington, and reload it all the time. Lots of good loads out there, and I've got a good supply of Speer and Hornady bullets but really love the good ol' Core-Lokt from Remington. Hard to find those anymore.
My Remington 700 .35 Whelen has taken a lot of big game. One shot kills. 250 yards or less. The 250 grain Core Lokts are deadly. When I reload I use the 250 grain Speer Hot Cor which Speer states they designed for the Whelen. https://www.speer.com/bullets/rifle-bullets/hot-cor-rifle-bullet/19-2453.html
