Neat, I had never put any thought into what "Acier Special" meant. It means "special steel."

That is a very pretty shotgun. I have a fondness for all things old and especially for original weapons. The info on this site is great!

Took the old girl to Skeet night this evening. Had to use spreader loads to compensate for the full Choke. Not a hiccup. Great shooter, going back in the display case for another 6 months or so.

After the Photobucket debacle, I rebuilt my threads using Imgur, but I guess I left some pictures out.

I’d thought that this style of checkering was only used briefly in the ‘20’s, but it showed up again on stocks made in Japan.

This is a very nice Browning and a very informative thread. What I find interesting as well is the deep rich color of the buttstock. I have an early mint prewar that has similar wood and I always wondered if the wood was stained or dyed. Thank for sharing Rudolph

Thanks Biz. I wondered about the finish myself, as this is the only one like that I’ve seen.

I’m new here, have absolutely loved all the information that you fellow Browning lovers have provided. I just acquired a 1924 Browning 16 gauge very similar to the one pictured previous in this post. It has matching SN’s on the receiver, barrel, forend and charging handle. Confirmed 1923/1924 using your info provided. Thank you all!

Congrats on your 16 gauge. Nothing sweeter then a 16.
