As the title states, I’m looking for recommendations from Citori owners for parts to have on hand for DIY level maintenance. I’m new to Citori shotguns. I’ve picked up three used and one brand new this year. Just replaced a worn top lever spring and mainsprings in my ‘81 Citori trap after researching some of the forums and YouTube. Right now my parts kit contains… -Top lever spring -2 Top & bottom firing pins / 2 bottom pin springs -2 Main springs & guides -2 Hammer springs and guides -Brownell’s hollow ground screw driver bits for Brownings -modified pair of channel locks for main spring removal. I appreciate any recommendations from the Citori experts out there….
Ok how about post a picture of those modified channel locks. Looks like a good parts list. I am still on my original firing pins in Citori and nearing 65,000 rounds. I would opt for a set of Art's screwdrivers over the Brownell's, and I have both.
I got the idea from DevonGunsmith youTube channel. But I only a have a bench grinder to reshape the channel locks and a Dewalt 20v cutoff tool to cut the groove for the mainspring guide and a few small files. No belt sander. So they are not perfect but they worked. The angle of the claws are a bit off. I Plan to make another with a smaller set of channel locks in the near future, ensuring that the flats of the “claws” are ground parallel to each other when the tool is opened to the same length of the mainspring guide.
Three of my Citori(s) I picked up second hand on GBroker. 1978 hunter 28” fixed mod/IC, 1981 trap 30”fixed IM/mod and 1990 lightning 28”with invector chokes. No idea of the round counts. They all lockup tight, extractors work perfect, bores like mirrors, and top levers are well right of center….except for the trap model. its top lever is a hair right of center and was sticking badly. New top lever spring fixed that and went ahead and replaced those mainsprings, figuring it’s seen a lot of rounds as a trap gun.
Nah, you did good. I just wanted it there, so it doesn't get lost. Making the video a sticky is easier than making a whole thread one.
That’s a pretty good parts list for a start. Super reliable gun well capable of a lot of shooting if looked after, lubed properly on the hinge pin and contact faces and not slammed shut that the gun twangs like a tuning fork ever shot. New Trigger piston spring is handy one to have for fault finding if ever gun starts playing up doing real weird intermittent things between shots or not setting the second barrel.
The parts list you have started is already pretty good. I also laid in some of the ejector extension screws as they get slammed back and forth a lot. My Citori is an early(ist) model so might be slightly different. Browning has pretty good parts support at various places like MGW so you don't really have to be your own warehouse.
