I need a forearm for a 1975 BPR (Browning Pump Rifle) in 22 mag. It's not the same as the centerfire BPR models that MGW has - this one has a mounting hole in the center of the forearm. I've tried all the usual parts places to no avail, and am wondering if anyone has any ideas where I might find one, or find a substitute that might be modified to fit. I don't think the BAR 22 forearm will work. Thanks for any ideas.
Think that's going to be a hard one That may well be early Miroku Japan manufactured item built for Browning. Used to see a few in the he early 80"s this side of the world in 22 mag. Don't think they made them for very long.
Thanks for your reply, Auzzie. I actually just bought a "gunsmithing" BPR 22-mag over gunbroker. I'll take the forearm and part out the rest of the gun. It has become clear that they are hard to get...
Well, I got the "gunsmithing" BPR-22 mag rifle, and, while the forearm was fine, the only thing wrong with the rifle was that it was missing the slide bar. So I found a slide bar and am still looking for a forearm... If anyone comes across one, I would appreciate a heads-up. Thanks.
I mentioned above that I had exhausted my search for a forearm for a 1977 BPR 22 magnum, and so I decided to special order one from Macon Gunstocks in Warsaw, Missouri. I called them and talked with Brian (owner), and discovered that he had a BPR in his personal collection. He said he would make a copy of his and save me the problem (and cost) of shipping mine to copy. Mind you, you need to be patient - it took around three and a half months to arrive. But it is beautiful! The wood is gorgeous, the checkering perfect, and the fit was excellent. Both Brian and Vicki were a pleasure to deal with, and the forestock arrived well-packed and in perfect condition. Brian even made and installed the escutcheon needed for mounting. I was extremely pleased with the result. The cost? $350. That may seem high to some, but it was more than worth it to me. The forearm was virtually non-existent on every site I checked in the U.S. and Canada. Even an experienced eye could not tell this forearm wasn't original to the gun.
