I recently came across this 1929 Test Target. I think it is a really interesting piece for collectors. According to S&V on page 96 they indicate these test patterns came with the gun in the 20's and 30's. This particular test pattern is for Serial# 132246. I have not seen but one or two of these in the past 20 years.
Those targets need to stay with the guns they belong to. They shouldn’t be separated! Museum quality factory case, not so much.
Maybe we could get a lost and found section to help the gun and target get back together. So many of the original boxes, cases, and paperwork were often discarded, lost, destroyed, or just sitting in a closet waiting to be discovered! I see lots of places that separate the boxes, cases, and paperwork during estate sales to generate more income. I think it would be pretty cool to find that particular Browning shotgun ser#. and reunite them!!! Maybe that will be my next project. Meanwhile, I think I am going to have this one framed and hung next to the Brownings! The paper is pretty fragile and it hard to believe it survived this long.
