i bought my bl-22 new about 6 months ago and found that very often it would not eject a casing properly. you would need to be quite assertive with cycling it or risk a jam. different brands or styles of ammunition seeemed not to have an effect on how often this occurred. looking at the mechanics of the action i started polishing things inside and greasing them thinking friction may be an issue or burrs from the newly manufactured gun, and it cycled more smoothly but still had failures. i tried a slicking spring kit from cowboy guns and gear in Australia, and it further improved the smoothness of the action and the trigger feel but i was still getting jams. one spring that wasnt included in that kit was item #13 on the BL-22 parts list, the carrier spring. which lifts casings up from the tube into line with the chamber. careful examination during cycling of the failure i noticed that an extracted round or casing would drop the rim below the ejector arm, and jam the action. i started looking into making my own carrier spring from generic spring kits and have worked my way up to the following: i have finally found a solution to this through trial and error. i have upgraded my carrier spring to one 0.9mm thick. it is a 180degree torsion spring, 3 coils, 6.0mm internal diameter loops, right hand wind. the spring material is 65Mn spring steel hardness HRC 42-48. this material makes it plenty easy to cut and bend with a pair of linesman's / general purpose pliers. copy the original spring shape, there is plenty of room for error. the link to the packet of springs i bought is this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/376391801528?var=645028276397 now i can cycle the action as slowly as i like and the carrier has enough pressure to keep the extracted round above the ejector and flick it out, even when it's extracting/ejecting the last casing and there isn't another coming up from the tube. i hope this information will be helpful to somebody.
Well sir that’s an awesome job. I’m glad you stuck with it until you found out the problem and got a fix figured out. It will be useful for lots of folks .
