After finding a roman numeral converter, , i come up with 1967. Thank you. I have read at a few areas trying to figure it out. Can you tell me how you come up with that number? Thanks
Sure, the serial number prefix. From 1958 to 1967 they used a single digit for the year. From 1968 to '76 they switched to 2 digits. After that a letter code was used. The letter is the model code. "S" for Sweet Sixteen. "R" for standard 16. "G" or "L" for Light Twelve. "M"or "H" for standard 12. The letter codes started in 1953. We have a great Auto-5 forum here. Check it out. Also, the following reference is very useful: http://www.nramuseum.org/media/940941/serialization-date of manufacture.pdf
