      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Picked up the action spring rebuild kit from Sure Cycle for my 1953 Auto-5. Replaced the recoil spring and the magazine spring, too, with parts from Midwest Gun Works. Problem with the action spring is the spring could only go over the red plug with a great deal of force and by turning the spring to open the diameter and would definitely not get over the lip near the end. Same with the silver plug and would not fit and appears the same as the wider diameter of the red plug. I ended up using the...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I took the iron sights off of my Browning BLR &#039;81 stainless takedown long action in 300 Win Mag because I wasn&#039;t using them and they were catching on stuff ... I tried some 6-48x 1/8&quot; filler plugs to fill the 2 holes in the muzzle end of the barrel but they stood proud of the barrel metal when fully tightened ...       <content:encoded><![CDATA[Browning offered 1886 &amp; 1892 rifles in the late 80s and early 90s. I&#039;m not sure of the actual dates. The 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine had a rear sight different from the rifle. It was a flip-up. I&#039;m thinking that I have seen a Winchester with the same sight. Does anybody know of a source for the sights? I read on another forum or in an article that these sights had an odd sized dove-tail and would not fit in the standard slot that a blade adjustable rear sight came out of....<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I haven’t posted in awhile so thought I would put my journey here with my great idea to do a leather covered but pad. The first order of business was to get the pad, I chose the pachmayr grind to fit pad. Used the J&amp;R jig to get the pad the correct angles. Then I figured I would get my holes cut in the pad. If the holes are not correct it’s back to square one. When doing a leather pad everything has to be rounded and not even the name on the pad can be left, as it will show through the leather....<br />

I am doing a leather covered pad on the Stevens, so I thought I would get some practice on another pad.
