I have a 12 Auto 5 Light Twelve Belgium made, I'm trying to figure out serial number for Insurance. Nearest guess on first three letters/numbers appears to be: 68G with serial number below that, the 68G is worn and not real readable, what I'm seeing indicates this would not be right as 68 model only had the number 8 followed by the G. My dad bought this for me possibly in 1968 maybe 1969, did some of the 68's have two numbers or not???

    68G is a 1968 Light Twelve.
    8G is a 1958 Light Twelve.

Other clues -- in 1960 the top of the safety was given a flat top. If yours is rounded, it's pre 1960.
YellowJacket and Rob poston like this.

What you told me is what I pretty much decided, my only issue on web searches indicated 68 we're still 8G assume maybe earlier ones were and later went to 68G which is only thing close to what I can make out, this or soon after is when I got gun new.
