I have a 7 mm remington mag serial 237RP (need to replace this butt stock) which indicates it was manufactured in 1978. I have a 243 serial 137PT which indicates it was manufactured in 1986. From other sources on the internet they state that a type one butt stock was made for Bars 1976 and earlier and that I require a type two butt stock. After looking at my butt stocks on both the 1978 and 1986 it appears a type 2 butt stock won't work as they both have the wood that extends into the receiver above the trigger.
