I bought a 1928 in like new condition the other day. I literally looks darn-near unfired!! With one exception.......
The butt plate is degraded noticeably, and the last couple of inches of the wood has a dark "stain" of some sort. We discussed it here in another thread that I cannot find. I thought the discoloration might have been caused by the dye in the butt plate leaching into the wood. I am hesitant to dive into refinishing the stock, as otherwise it looks pristine. Anyone considered trying some of that Birchwood Casy stock refinisher and see if that is fine enough to "polish" it away?

Did I mention the gun looks unfired!!! 27.5", plain, modified, Grade 1.

Without pictures, this gun doesn’t exist.

The stain will sand off but you can still see it after it’s refinished
