Hello all, I came across this Frum searching gun cases for a Browning Auto-5. So I guess my next post will in that topic thread! When I can work out how to post a picture that is! I am sixty-five, retired, have shot for over fifty years and in that time have had maybe four or five A-5s yet, two P-35 High Power pistols, yet never a Browning O/U! I used to shoot game and duck and still shoot English Sporting clays on an informal basis.
Southwest Idaho says Hi and welcome. We have a really good bunch of guys here, climb aboard. No drama, and a tonne of information.
Thank you both. I'd like to upload four pictures of this guncase I mentioned but ask do I have to post them on a image listing third party website?
Yes sir for the time being. Something happened to the photo upload button, and it doesn't work. I have been promised that it will be fixed with the next site update, whenever that happens. I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. I use IMGUR to post pictures., but you can also send to me, and I will upload for you if you wish. Just send me a PM and I will send you my email address.
Thank you for the kind and welcomed invitation to send you the pictures for the "A-G Guncase" thread. My email I've sent by PM for this. Mastra I guess no longer exist but I will try and find a Gun Digest from the 1960s as they may have had a listing there. Here's a picture from a USA website of their old factory: https://clevelandmemory.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/structure/id/155/ Mastra may be gone but the building still stands and looks fine and proud. This from Google Mapps: https://www.google.com/maps/place/2104 Superior Ave, Cleveland, OH 44114, USA/@41.5072835,-81.6785698,3a,75y,109.6h,99.22t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1si_bcz42g6V1etaUR2j9lOA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!4m5!3m4!1s0x8830fa651b37e971:0xa0ec16b4d6179dc1!8m2!3d41.507156!4d-81.6782803 The pictures I have to share are of a Mastra E-210 (product number) "Gun Caddy" https://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/attachments/01010089-jpg.292287/ With my Browning 1963 Auto-5 in it. On European market A-5 guns the year of make is the first two digits...slightly different size to the others...of the gun serial number. So the A-5 has always been here in Europe but how exactly the guncase (bought by me at an auction in the UK in December 2022) came to be all those thousands of miles here in the UK we'll never know, if only these things could talk! https://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/attachments/01010090-jpg.292288/ It fits well enough to have me think that this catalogue number "Gun Caddy" was for a A-5? What think...or better...know...other forum members?
Welcome. It is interesting to see the earlier vintage cases. I look forward to photos of your 'gun caddy' and other tid-bits of info from the UK.
