Funken Engraved Gun

    I am at WORK. And the weather sucks. And it’s damned cold here in SYR where I arrived at 0100 and am spending the whole day.

    That’s a good theory, as the gun certainly looks factory, and Funken’s signature looks genuine. But I’m trying to imagine a mishap where a shotgun’s receiver is destroyed but its barrel is not. Because that is plainly a 1904 barrel, and in pristine condition.

    And there are unanswerable questions of when markings were applied to the receivers. I would think the serial number would be first. This receiver doesn’t look to me like it had one ground off and replaced. And why wouldn’t they use a plain receiver?
