Did you ever find a source to fix or replace your double rail 1904 bolt?

Does anyone know a source for a tang screw for an early straight stock? Preferably without notch for lock screw since this is for a 1904, before lock screws.

No I have not. Thought that I found one on Ebay, was listed a 12 gauge...turned out to be a 16 gauge. Still looking.

Gus, the 16 gauge debuted in 1909 when the design was pretty much standardized. I'd be interested to know if your 16 gauge bolt has a double rail. And, if so, are you sure it's not a Remington part? As far as I know, Remington's kept the double rail design throughout production.

It was a double rail and Browning proofed. The serial number on the plunger was a low four digit.
