My son got drawn for a rare junior hunt for cow elk. He shot my fairly new BAR ShortTrac in .308. Using the Sellier & Bellot eXergy 180 grain copper bullets I posted about in the ammo forum, he dropped this 405 lb. cow elk with one shot to the neck at 150 yards. Despite the great end result, he didn't get a complete pass through and I didn't dissect the thick muscular neck to recover the bullet. I would have liked to see it and have it as a souvenir for him, as well as evaluate the expansion on it. Regardless, the rifle and caliber selection were perfect for this hunt.
