My collection of Auto-5’s is fairly representative of production from 1903 - 1965, all made in Belgium. But I do have one Miroku produced gun, the Browning Classic, made in Japan but engraved in Belgium.
Looking up the details in S/V, in 1983 Browning ordered two special models from FN, the Classic and the Gold Classic. The Gold was produced in Belgium, limited to 500, and in 1984 sold for $6500. The Classic, though made in Japan, was engraved in Belgium and sold for $1200. Production was limited to 5000, and mine is number 158.
There is a gold classic for sale on gun broker right now for 6300. Would be nice to own. Has beautiful wood. I have to say I really dont like it anymore then my DU, and clays or game don’t know the difference. At least I can make myself feel better anyway that I don’t own it.
$6300 would be a bargain. I looked but didn’t see it, but I did find one for $8500. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/771381489
Someone on this site is asking about the Superposed version — at least I think it’s a Super. Maybe one of our experts will help out. http://www.browningowners.com/forum/index.php?threads/hello-i-have-a-question-for-a-friend.10530/
