A buddy of mine wants to take his Polaris ORV out in Nevada on some jeep trails and Coyote hunting.

I'm not a hunter, but I figured I'd bring a rifle and hunting license. Sounds like fun.

The rifle I'd bring is my 308 win BLR.

I need a scope, even though I like the looks of lever guns better with iron sights.

But with my 70 year old eyes, I need a scope to see much.

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a Leupold probably mounted on Browning rings.

    Maybe 3-9 magnification.

    Suggestions? Comments?

Little late to reply, but I have a 308 Win BLR that I topped with a 2x7 Redfield Revolution. I think it really fits the the rifle well and has worked for me.

I just put a 2-7 Vortex on my BLR 308. Need to get to the range and finish sighting it in -- if I can find one that's open.

I use a 2 1/2-8X Leupold for range use and other target shooting. But for deer/bear hunting, I use a 1.5-5X Leupold with heavy crosshairs because most shooting is likely to be near sundown. If you aegoing to call coyotes at sundown, I'd even think about something in the 3-9X range with illuminated crosshairs.
