Hey guys, I recently acquired this from a family member. I know absolutely nothing about older shotguns. Its a semi auto, 16 gauge 2 and 3/4, shoots great. I'm pretty sure its an browning a5? is it worth much? is it something else? thanks for the help! Serial number is A14179 it shows up with nothing when I plug it on on browning s site.

Jeez, Shooter. I have to WORK occasionally! "American Browning" made by Remington circa 1940 for Browning while FN was occupied. Value about $400. Model 11 parts will fit. OK to use Browning springs and friction pieces. The serial number appeared on the side of the receiver instead of on the bottom. The "A" prefix was used on the 16, "B" for 12, and "C" for 20. FN didn't make a 20 gauge Auto-5 until 1958.
