I recently looked up this subject on the internet and found an article describing the procedure. Great article but not necessarily true. I recently acquired a Belgian made BAR in 30 06 grade 2 in mint condition. Although it is a right handed gun the safety works the opposite direction from left to right to fire. I took the gun to a gunsmith to be reversed. After having to remove the but stock to access the trigger assembly I was told that the safety on this gun was not reversible since it is tapered and will not fit in the reversed direction. A second gunsmith confirmed this and both said they had never encountered this before. Does anyone know if this was normal on Belgian made BAR's or is there something can be done by replacing the safety itself?
